CISA Certification Exam

To obtain the CISA certificate, you must first pass the CISA examination, which is held in several major cities in China in June, September and December every year. For example, in Nanjing, the examination is held in Mochou campus of Nanjing audit institute.

If you pass the CISA exam, you need two years of experience related to information system audit, which can be offset by other qualifications. Details are as follows:

CISA plans to evaluate and certify individuals with excellent skills and judgment in the field of information system audit, control and security. To obtain CISA certification, applicants need to:

Successfully pass the CISA examination;

Provide evidence of more than 5 years of experience in information system audit, control and security. If you have the following equivalent experience, you can apply for exemption from this experience:

Less than one year of experience in information system audit, control and security can be offset by the following qualifications:

At least one year of non information system audit experience, or at least one year of information system work experience, and / or college degree (60 credits or equivalent).

Two years of experience in information system audit, control and security can be offset by a bachelor’s degree (120 credits or equivalent).

One year of experience in information system audit, control and security can be offset by two years of experience as a full-time lecturer in relevant fields (computer science, accounting, information system audit, etc.). No maximum years (i.e. 6 years of experience as a university lecturer is equivalent to 3 years of experience in information system audit, control and security).

Professional experience must be obtained within 10 years before application or within 5 years before the date of first passing the examination. The application for certification must be submitted within 5 years after passing the CISA examination. All professional experience must be independently confirmed by the original employer. It is worth noting that many people take the CISA exam before they have the required experience. Although CISA certification will not be granted until all required qualifications are met, this practice is acceptable and encouraged. To sum up, you can pass the exam first, and then have a college degree in relevant majors, which can offset part of the experience, or carry out relevant work within three to five years. Otherwise, you may not get the certificate beyond this period, but the grade is still useful.
